NA 8 Charsada II is a strong hold of PPP(Sherpao) group as the party head Aftab Ahmad Sherpao won this seat in past 2 elections. Twice ANP candidates were on the runner up position however in last general elections (2008) Aftab Ahmad Sherpao was lucky to defeat Bahshir Khan Umerzai of ANP as the difference between the 2 was only few hundred votes.

     General Elections 2008

Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao Pakistan Peoples Party (Sherpao) 30626
Anwar ul Habib Mutthida Majlis-e-Amal Pakistan (MMA) 12239
Bashir Khan Umerzai Awami National Party 29951

     General Elections 2002

Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao Pakistan Peoples Party (Sherpao) 42326
Mr.Iftikhar Khan Matta Awami National Party 18346

What future holds for this underdeveloped rural area for these political parties will very much depend on the new emerging power in the area which is PTI. A famous politician from PTI is Jahanzeb Khan and the way PTI gained popularity in this area the chances are very bright of them. For Aftab Ahmad Sherpao it will be very hard to maintain his winning streak unless his party joins hands with some other party. ANP gained a lot in 2008 elections but this time their overall graph in whole province is going down so over here they might have to wait.

A detailed analysis of NA 8 Charsadda political situation and party position for 2013 elections published in Daily Nai Baat.

According to reports, Aftab Sherpao is trying to do seat adjustment with JUI-F in which case his party (Qaumi watan Party) will support JUI-F candidate in NA 7 and in return, JUI-F will support Aftab Sherpao in NA 8. If this seat adjustment is agree, Aftab Sherpao will be the most favorite candidate from NA 8 Charsadda.
