NA 59 Attock Party Position 2013 Elections:

Sardar Saleem Haider who is currently serving as a minister and enjoys a huge public support. He will be a favorable candidate from NA 59 Attock once again on PPP ticket.

Strength of Major Tahir Sadiq Group can’t be denied and this group will also play a significant role in 2013 elections.

PML-N is also striving hard to gain more and more strength in NA 59 but current ground situation doesn’t seem much favorable for PML-N.

PTI is not a political force in NA 59 and tsunami failed to hit this region. PTI will surely bring some new face in 2013 election from here but only a miracle can bring them to the victory.

Today Sardar Sikandar Hayat Khan from NA 59 Attock has joined PTI in Islamabad which is a great political change in NA 59 Attock politics. Sardar Sikandar Hayat was a key figure of PPP in Attock and was runner up in 2002 elections by getting 40 thousand plus votes.

His joining in PTI will now bring PTI in a good fighting position in NA 59 Attock.

Attock politics is based on 6 baradris: Awan, Khattar, Rajput, Mughal,Gujjar and pathan (in tehsil Attock). There’s a large population of Arains but they simply follow the leading baradri in the village,

Waseem Gulzar is the husband of Eman Waseem who’s daughter of Major Tahir Sadiq and niece of Ch. Shujaat. Maj. Tahir Sadiq’s mother, Begum Sardar Muhammad Sadiq  was also an MP in 80s. After her death Major Tahir Sadiq became MP. They were all part of N then. Tahir Sadiq’s a major political force in Attock politics.  Sardar Sikandar Hayat is son of Sardar Shaukat Hayat and grandson of Sardar Sikandar Hayat who was chief minister of Punjab in United India. Sardar Sikandar Hayat of PTI (today) became MP on PPP ticket in 1985 but after that he’s no more a political power (Mitay Namion Kay Nishan Kaisay Kaisay). Both Sardar Tahir Sadiq and Sardar Sikandar are Khhattar (a major tribe in Taxilla, Wah, Fateh Jang . Sardar Tarhir Sadiq has been demonstrating influence since late 80s. Sardar Sikandar is just an heir of big names (Pidaram Sultan Bood).

Malik Asif’ is nephew of Ch. Nisar who’s been by far most influential in neighboring constituency NA 53 Taxilla and even greater control of NA 52 since 1985. Ch. Nisar’s been trying to extend his personal influence in NA 59 since 90s without lasting success. Malik Asif won a provincial seat (a fluke) once in 1993 but that’s that. He couldn’t and wouldn’t ever after. N has better candidates (Sardars of Kot Fateh Khan and others) but Ch. Nisar wants Asif Malik. Ch. Nisar’s father Brig. Fateh was also a notable personality of Attock and he used to win and lose off and on. But Ch. Nisar has remained almost invincible since 1985 in both NA 52 & 53. So many of his allies (Nawaz Khokhar (now PPP), Raja Basharat/Nasir (now Q), his cousins Ch. Waqar and Sardar Iqbal (now PPP), Haji Dildar (aggrieved and home-sit) all used to be in N previously. Regardless, Ch. Nisar maintained his hold all along.

Sardar saleem haider is also a close relative of Ch. Nisar but he’s in PPP and has the greatest probability of holding his seat for PPP in forth coming election. Maj. Tahir Sadiq’s candidate (Q) would be runner up if PPP/Q adjustment didn’t work. Wait and see N and PTI’s  battle for 3rd and 4th position here.
